BIOGRAPHY
Hunter's work is anchored in the craft traditions from rural North Carolina, where he was immersed in his parents' practices of stained glass, woodworking, and pottery. These formative years in their studios provided a foundation in materiality and technique that remains part of his work today. After two decades practicing architecture in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris, he returned to making and currently divides his time between his architecture practice and art studio.
His art practice deliberately deviates from the constraints of architecture, exploring his interests in sensation, memory, and intuition. Working primarily with responsibly harvested wood from Los Angeles' urban forests and surrounding neighborhoods, his pieces embody both his technical precision and deep connection to material and place.
